Sarath Menon, PhD


Professor Sarath Menon-Chembottil is a TI Advisor and Member of the Council of Advisors (CoA) for the Taksha Indic Sarasvati-Sindhu Civilization (TISSC) Center. Prof. Menon, India-born, is a social scientist by academic training and holds academic appointments in Houston, Texas, US. His area of special interest is the sociology of religion. He has an earned doctorate with specialization in the sociology of education, and master’s degrees in both anthropology and sociology.

Prof. Menon’s current research focuses on the social, cultural, and economic consequences of globalization in India and religious social movements. He is currently working on a book about religious social movements in the Indian state of Kerala. In addition to his academic appointments, Prof. Menon serves on the Board of the Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center in Houston and the Nesti Center for Faith and Culture, and also as the Academic Advisor to IHAR (Indian History Awareness and Research), a think tank based in Houston.
